“I have a disability called arthrogryposis. It affects people in different ways, but for me it affects my hips mostly. That’s why I need to walk with braces and crutches. I needed a ground level condo with a garage close-by and no stairs. When an issue arose with the initial buyer and he had to rescind the contract, Mark had already worked to secure a full price back-up offer and the home was under contract again the same day. “When we got military orders in early 2017 to relocate to northern Virginia we knew we wanted to buy new construction but wasn't sure where to start. We hired Equity Rise to be our ears and eyes since we were not able to make an "in person" home search trip. After identifying the community and floor plan we liked Leigh Anne went in person the next day to negotiate the offer. "My sister used the Equity Rise team to sell their town home and purchase a single family home two years ago and were very impressed with their professionalism and commitment to customer service. When it came time for me to buy a home, I naturally selected a real estate team that came with such a strong recommendation. Leigh Anne took the time to educate me, not only on the market but on the entire home buying process which helped put me at ease. I was little apprehensive at first about putting my foot in the water, but once we started looking at home my apprehension turned into excitement. “I had rented the same apartment for over 15 years before I made the move to purchase a condo. I really enjoyed the convenience of the Falls Church/Alexandria area and knew I wanted to stay nearby. As a first time home buyer I had a lot of questions about the home buying process including getting a mortgage, inspections, and evaluating the value of a property. Meeting with Leigh Anne I got all of my questions answered, and we saw less than 10 condos before putting in an offer. Working with the Equity Rise team gave me access to competent lenders, home inspectors, and contractors. While under contract we ran into a couple of inspection issues that made me re-think the viability of the home for my needs. Leigh Anne worked diligently with the listing agent and negotiated a higher subsidy from the seller. The higher subsidy freed up more funds so I could make the changes to the home to make it work for me. We even had a last minute issue with some information in the condo documents but Leigh Anne stepped in and got the answers I needed to move forward. "We first met the Equity Rise team online when we were searching for our next home to buy. We were several months out since I was still working out of state. Mikayla, the client services coordinator, called me regularly to check in with us to get the progress on our plans. Once I secured my new job in Virginia, I knew we were ready to buy, so Mikayla's next check in call proved to be very timely. We met with and saw homes that first day after our buying consultation with Leigh Anne. I think we saw 6 homes that first weekend in 4 different neighborhoods. One particular community had a large number of retired veterans, like ourselves, which appealed to us but the current homes on the market were not quite right for us. We kept looking and later that week we found a home currently owned by a veteran. They had a VA loan with a favorable interest rate! We quickly made an offer and got a ratified contract to take advantage of the cost savings when assuming a loan.
