When housing prices started dropping in 2006, many buyers who were otherwise ready to purchase decided to wait until prices "hit bottom". In other words, they were attempting to time the housing market. But the difficulty with attempting to time the market is that the housing market does not exist in a vacuum. When trying to time one market, you also have to hope that interrelated markets behave according to plan. And as we all know, right now the stock market is not "behaving"! So is it prudent to keep waiting? That answer will vary depending on individual circumstances, but there are some key perspectives worth considering.
